Purpose
The Competition
We stuck to more traditional rules, as we were keen to remain true to the roots of Kettlebell Sport. The aim is to keep this a distinguishing feature of the UK Open Kettlebell Championships, while introducing more progressive team events to encourage participation. The pinnacle of the competition will be the Biathlon and the Long Cycle event. For the team event each crew will consist of four members (any mixture of male and female). There are five lifts to complete, with two minutes allowed for each lift. Each team member lifts at least once, with the team captain going twice. Intriguing right? Well you can read the full details of the single and team events in the rules and regulations download.
The Prizes
Everyone loves a winner, but not everyone can win. It takes a special kind of person to enter a Kettlebell competition, the lifts are demanding and require a relentless commitment, mentally and physically. We appreciate that, and believe that everyone who steps onto the platform to compete should be rewarded for their efforts. Below is a brief outline of how prizes and rewards will be allocated, the full breakdown are in the rules and regulation download.
The Event
The spotlight will be on the Kettlebell athletes, both male and female, towering on the platforms grinding away at the steel. We thought it only appropriate to integrate some of the UK's most innovative and dynamic icons of modern physical culture. There will be displays by Parkour pioneers Urban Freeflow who possess the extraordinary ability to defy gravity. Martial Arts demonstrations, featuring special guests will also be a part of this ground braking event. You will also get the chance to meet representatives from our chosen charities, who will be giving out information and advice about their services. Other health and fitness related stands provided by our sponsors should also keep you thoroughly entertained.
The Location
Crystal Palace National Sports Arena, London, UK
The venue has been secured for the 2009 and 2010 UK Open Kettlebell Championships. You will be hard pressed to find another venue in London that has committed to bringing the highest caliber athletes into the public eye, and in such a diverse field of sports over the years.
2009 is another landmark year as budding Kettlebell athletes will battle for supremacy in their quest for perfection at the first ever UK Open Kettlebell Championships.
