IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

It is with great regret that we have to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances the UK Open Kettlebell Championships July 18th 2009 has been postponed.

There will be a complete refund for all entrants and those who have purchased tickets to the event. Refunds will be made on the Thursday 2nd July 2009 please allow 5 working days for the amount to be credited to your account. 

The New date for the event will be announced end of July 2009.  For those who had booked flights or had purchased tickets and still wish to train and come to London there will be a Training Day on the 18th July featuring a series of  Kettlebell Workshops , Injury management, and Alternative Fitness Training methods, entrance will be free to those who had registered or purchased tickets. Announcements will be made shortly.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or distress caused, we are as disappointed as you are - but we're dedicated to making it happen, and will see you on the platform soon.

Its great to see that registration has begun for the Uk open kettlebell championships - Cj has done a great job completing stage one on the website.

UK Girevoy Sport is in its infancy  - groups such as Optimal Life Fitness run by Bj Rule and Tommy Matthews and Power Seekers have put on kettlebell competitions along the Russian lines (biathlon and long cycle events) over the last few years. The goal of the UK Open Championship is to bring the sport of kettlebell lifting to a wider audience and also to bring the various groups that have formed together to compete and become a community.

The Open in the title of this competition is very important. Obviously it means that those outside of the uk are welcome to compete but also that those from the various different organisations that teach beginners and certify coaches are welcome and encouraged to participate. Both my own and Cj's company's have within our teams and our wider networks teachers who have been certified on the IKFF CKT workshops, Dragon Doors RKC, AKC, BKLF, completed courses set up by London Kettlebells, Angie Dowds, Optimal Life Fitness, Gym Jones, Cross Fit, Movement Wisdom, in-house training within Virgin Active, various sports, athletics and martial arts clubs, the Royal Marine Commandos and numerous others .

 Then there are countless others who have worked it out for themselves and never worried about going beyond self-exploration. We would like everyone to come along to express their own style at this Championships. We believe everyone would like to be a part of something much bigger than one organisation and hope that a non-profit championships is a good vehicle to draw a community together.

The time is 11:30pm GMT. It has been a year in the making, but the UK Open Kettlebell Championships are a step closer and slowly creeping up on us. The countdown is on. The registration for the UK Open Competition is now officially open.
